Book Review 2: “Be Obsessed or Be Average” by Grant Cardone
Overall, this book earns a 9.7 out of 10 and is an excellent read for anyone with ambition or anyone trying to rediscover it. I first heard about Be Obsessed or Be Average through “The Complete Software Developers Career Guide” by John Sonmez, where it was recommended as a must-read. That recommendation alone made me curious, but the message of this book ended up being exactly what I needed at the time.
I picked up this book during a period when I was starting to doubt my own ambitions. Many of the people around me reflected the exact mindset Grant Cardone describes; those who, often unconsciously, try to limit how far you go because theyve already given up on going further themselves. Reading this book reignited something in me. It reminded me that I would rather be obsessed with my goals than settle for being average.
The audiobook version is narrated by Grant Cardone himself, and his passion is unmistakable. You can hear the energy, drive, and conviction in his voice as he shares both his philosophy and his journey. That delivery makes the message hit even harder and feel far more personal than a typical self-development book.
More than anything, this book helped shift my perspectiveon how I see myself, my goals, and even the people who try to discourage me (whether intentionally or not). Be Obsessed or Be Average isnt about burnout or blind hustle; its about owning your ambition unapologetically. If youve ever felt pressured to tone it down, this book is a powerful reminder not to.
I highly recommend it.
